The exhibition is the culmination of the artist’s many years of experience in printmaking, his fascination with its history and belief that the medium ‘can offer endless possibilities for artists creating new work to this day.’ This latest exhibition presents a new collection of precisely composed prints with the artist’s characteristic use of geometric shapes with clean hard edges and dynamic flat colour.
Using the relief printing process, Henry has employed industrial rubber and reclaimed commercial aluminium lithography plates, where each individual plate is precisely cut and patiently sanded to an even finish, then carefully inked and run through the printing press.
With technical assistance from Master Printmaker Mary Crockett, who has previously helped create original prints for well known British artists such as Sir Terry Frost, Breon O’Casey and Gary Hume, Henry’s work draws on a wealth of experience and influences from print making on both sides of the Atlantic.
Henry Garfit - New Relief Prints will be on show at The Hospital Club, Covent Garden, London from 7th June to 3rd September 2011. For more information on viewing the exhibition please click here: Henry Garfit – New Relief Prints
